Summer Grant Street Ministry Partnership with Buffalo Dream Center

For six weeks this summer, Hearts for the Homeless® was happy to partner with the Buffalo Dream Center for their annual Grant Street outreach. Hearts provided sandwiches and  drinks every Monday night throughout the summer to the Buffalo Dream Center team who met with folks and ministered to them. Pastor Eric Johns said that the sandwiches Hearts provided helped to open the door to times of prayer with our neighbors in need and it was a blessed time.

Every Monday for six weeks a team from the Buffalo Dream Center shined the light of Jesus on Grant Street. Grant Street, on Buffalo’s west side, is one of darkest places in the city. The drug dealers and prostitutes are out in the open for everyone to see and the area is full of lost, hurting, and broken people. This is where the church is needed the most! Only a supernatural touch from Jesus can break the power the devil has over the lives of people.

We walked down the street armed with snacks from Hearts for the Homeless, a ministry partner, and ministered to everyone we encountered. Some of the toughest looking people broke down into tears as we prayed with them.  One Monday, Jessica approached a lady waiting for the bus. She seemed apprehensive to talk to us at first, but then began to open up and accepted the offer for prayer. Jessica began to pray and God moved on this woman’s heart.  I watched as her countenance changed from hopelessness to joy, as she hugged Jessica and cried on her shoulder.

This is just one example of the many powerful moments we had in just a few weeks. We were able to lead people in the prayer for salvation, prophesy over some, see prayers answered for business owners, and pray over several to break the power of addiction.  Additionally, we continue to pray for all the seeds of love and God’s Word that were sown in the hearts of the people. We are confident that God is going to pour out His Spirit on Grant Street and many will give their lives to Jesus!
