Caring For Our Community During The Holidays

This time of year, as families unite, the struggle to provide a
meal for every cherished member can be overwhelming.
Hearts’ annual Feed A Family initiative aims to lessen this burden.
We aim to offer a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast, fostering
unity and preserving holiday traditions for everyone.

We had the pleasure of speaking with a long-time Hearts Harvest
Food Pantry client about his family traditions for Thanksgiving and
are grateful to share it with you. Jamie and his wife, Carmen, are
blessed with seven children and they live and work here in the
Riverside community in Buffalo. When asked how his family
celebrates Thanksgiving, Jamie said that his extended family
comes in from all over a day or two before Thanksgiving. Each
family member has a task prior to the big day. One may be
responsible for preparing the turkey, another for the veggies and
another family member gets the stuffing and gravy ready. His
wife Carmen makes the pumpkin pies and desserts. While doing
all of these preparations Jamie said the conversations are
flowing and they all share the special moment of being together
as a family.

As the holiday gets closer, Jamie and Carmen, and many other
folks like them look to Hearts for assistance. With your help and
through God’s blessings, our goal is to help 450 families with a
turkey and sides for a Thanksgiving Day meal to remember

This season, you can uplift the holiday spirit by supporting Hearts’
Feed A Family initiative. Join us in praying for all involved, from
donors to volunteers and the beneficiaries of this Thanksgiving
initiative.

Summer Grant Street Ministry Partnership with Buffalo Dream Center

For six weeks this summer, Hearts for the Homeless® was happy to partner with the Buffalo Dream Center for their annual Grant Street outreach. Hearts provided sandwiches and  drinks every Monday night throughout the summer to the Buffalo Dream Center team who met with folks and ministered to them. Pastor Eric Johns said that the sandwiches Hearts provided helped to open the door to times of prayer with our neighbors in need and it was a blessed time
