Hearts for the Homeless Featured on Buffalo WIVB Channel 4 News
Did you know that Hearts for the Homeless was featured recently on WIVB Channel 4 news? Our own Nick Calandra sat down with the good folks at WIVB and we were able to talk about several things we’ve done around WNY, what we want to do, and a little bit about what’s next for WNY. Check out the video below to see more!
Mobile Soup Kitchen
One component the story touched on was our Mobile Soup Kitchen in Buffalo NY. As a cornerstone operation of our organization, the mobile soup kitchen feeds about 80 people a night in Buffalo. This is extremely beneficial in helping people get through hard times, especially during colder months here in Buffalo. With the same idea in mind, we know how much it can mean to people that are struggling to get by, or living on the street, to just get a helping hand, a warm meal. Something so simple to many of us is a matter of survival to these people, and that meal can make a difference in changing that person’s life.
A New Food Pantry in Buffalo
That mantra is behind the plans of a new food pantry we are planning on creating near our ministry in Buffalo. In the video, Nick touches on the concept of a new style of food pantry. Some food pantries around WNY only feed up to ⅓ of the families in need that could be receiving. Buffalo food pantries are all putting forth effort to feed the homeless, but many times these places are not desirable in the eye of the public. That is why the team at Hearts for the Homeless aims to design and create an experience that not only provides food, but a warm culture and closeness for the community it serves.

Clothing Donation Bins
Channel 4 Buffalo also touched on the red clothing donation bins around WNY that provide clothing donations to help fund the efforts. Through donations made through our donation bins, which you can find anywhere in WNY here on our website, we are able to provide clothing to recycle and resell at our Buffalo thrift store, that helps feel the homeless. Donating gently used clothing to our clothing donation bins is the easiest way to help our efforts, and you can find information on acceptable items here on our site!
For more information on the way Hearts for the Homeless helps, our story with Channel 4, or to talk to someone about making a donation, just give us a call or reach out via our contact form! We always encourage people to not throw out old clothing in the trash, it can be simply dropped off in our red clothing donation bins around WNY, which you can find the nearest here!
Glad I observed this on google .
