Host A Food Drive
Help Hearts for the Homeless® feed families and individuals in need.
Hosting a food drive is a great way to provide food-insecure
individuals and families with the supplies they need to stay healthy.
Your impact changes lives when you host a food drive on behalf of Hearts. Now, more than ever, our community needs our help. In 2023, homelessness was up by 35 percent in Erie County — the largest single increase in over a decade.
Hosting a food drive on behalf of Hearts is a way for us to work together to help those facing food insecurity in our community.
How To Host A Food Drive
Individuals or groups can conduct a donation drive and drop off items at the Hearts Campus. It’s easy to participate and here’s how you do it:
- ANNOUNCE that you, your group or church will be conducting a food drive, and ask your members, friends or family to bring non-perishable items to your location; also letting them know the dates you will be collecting food. Below you will find provided graphics to share on social media to help announce your food drive.
- DISCUSS the food drive with your peers and family. Lead them in a discussion on community service and serving the poor and homeless. Relate the phrase, “City of Good Neighbors” with participation in your food drive.
- COLLECT the donations. Use the graphic provided below to be placed on collection bins, bulletin boards, or in newsletters. Collection bins can be anything that is convenient for you: plastic tote, cardboard box, recycling bin or laundry basket! Click here for an 8.5 x 11 flyer.
- DROP OFF the non-perishables to the Hearts Campus, located at 890 Tonawanda St. Buffalo, NY 14207. Donation receiving hours: Monday through Saturday, 9:30 AM - 4:00 PM.
- DEBRIEF your food drive experience to reinforce the messages of service and volunteerism with your group or family. Looking to continue partnering with Hearts to make a difference in our community? Consider volunteering!
If you have photos of your food drive and would like to share them with Hearts, please email them to Katelyn Moore, [email protected] .
