On Our Hearts

“Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them…So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets…”

Matthew 6:1,2

There is a lot that happens at Hearts every day. We report to you the topics that will give you an update on the programs we are running and describe how the operation of our programs are doing, and how you are helping us to carry out our goals, vision, and mission.

Just as the above scripture advises us, many great deeds and actions that Hearts benefits from go unseen, or unreported. Many times, people take action on something they have read or heard about and we don’t always know about it; but somehow, we benefit from it.

Each night that Hearts Mobile Crews go out to feed the homeless and poor, all of their interactions are too numerous to report, their activities are done so naturally by them that every photo opp, or story doesn’t get noted.

At other times, we’ve received notes with donations, letters on how someone was spurred to donate by hearing about our work, or was helped by our organization years ago, we’ve had volunteers and donors that used to live in the neighborhood and are now touched to see all that Hearts is doing to help the local community.

Perhaps you are one of those we are speaking of, or you know someone who was impacted by our outreach, but it was never reported or even known by us.

Even those we serve, serve others because they empathize and want to help those within their own group. We’ve seen our poor friends on the street share their food with someone who may have shown up late. They are not doing it to be seen or applauded, they are doing it because they know what it feels like to be in need of food, friendship, or kindness.

We write this today because we are spurred on by the many people out there who are answering the call to help others. You may have noticed that the kindness you share or the help you gave came back like a boomerang just when you needed it.

Thank you for your unreported acts of kindness and help! We know our Father in Heaven sees each one and your reward awaits you there.

We hope you enjoyed your Easter!
Hearts was so happy to be able to send Easter ham dinners with all the trimmings right down to the jellybeans to two homeless shelters for their guests to enjoy on Easter Sunday.

Hearts Thrift Shop News

Hearts Thrift Shop has limitless kindnesses that the staff imparts on a daily basis, even our customers carry out acts of charity for other customers, many of which go unreported. Here are some we know about.

a young man who shops regularly in the store had cashed out, but found one more item to purchase. He decided to pay for the customer ahead of him along with his second purchase. He blessed Naomi who has been a regular customer at Hearts. We believe that this was God helping Naomi because she lost 3 family members recently in a short time span. After Will paid for her items, Naomi’s eyes began to well up in tears that someone would surprise her in such a way.

We served different individuals from within our community who needed clothing. Two of them also had needs for household items because they had lost everything in a fire.

One of our regular customers who comes in 2 or 3 times a week came in frantic one day and asked if anyone had seen her little dog and if they do to call her. It was a very cold day and Max, the dog, is only 6 lbs. and he gets cold easily. Later that day, the customer called our store saying she found him in the park and said thank you that we cared enough to pray for her dog and his return.

Our Racks are Filled with Spring and Summer Clothing.

Remember, when you shop you are supporting our outreach to the homeless, poor and local community.
