In December 1990, a group of people set out to find poor and homeless people in the city of Buffalo. After mobilizing and coordinating our efforts, Hearts for the Homeless® was launched and that first year we fed 5000 people!
Soon afterward, it became painfully apparent that children like those who came to our mobile soup kitchen were also hungry for the love of Christ. But we always felt that we wanted to do more. So, in 1996, we found a new home in the Riverside area of Buffalo.
Our director was moved to further action and, in 1997, the doors to our present Thrift Shop welcomed patrons from the Riverside area and beyond.
Today, approximately 30 volunteers and 7 staff members work in our homeless program . For the past 16 years, we have helped thousands of individuals in need of both physical and spiritual nourishment. With God’s direction and your help, we will continue to do so.
